I bought my car in Massachusetts. After 1 year, I moved to California. A couple years later, I paid off my car. Massachusetts mailed me the title to California. My vehicle registration in CA says ** NO TITLE ISSUED / NON-TRANSFERABLE**. What do I need to do to get that removed?
I’m trying to avoid standing in line for 6 hours if possible in this dysfunctional state ;)

I found this:

It sounds like you just need to show them the Mass title.

Go to AAA, don’t go to DMV. They can do most DMV services at a much shorter line.

Get a AAA membership. In California you can do almost anything at AAA that you can do at the DMV in a tiny fraction of the time with people who are happy to help you.

Unless you live in a major metro area, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! I hate hearing people bitch about going to the dmv when I've never taken more than 5 minutes because I make an appointment.
